Before
establishing Lankler & Carragher with his old friend, classmate
and colleague Andrew Lankler, Owen spent many years in both government
service and private practice.
After
graduating from the National Law Center, Owen served for seven
years as an assistant district attorney in the Rackets Bureau,
Organized Crime Narcotics Unit, Special Prosecutions Bureau
and
Trial Division of the New York County District Attorneys Office.
As an assistant district attorney, Owen specialized in the
investigation
and prosecution of sophisticated financial crimes and both traditional
and nontraditional organized crime groups. As a result of his
successful efforts in several high profile investigations and
trials, he was awarded numerous commendations from federal
and
state law enforcement agencies and was called upon to lecture
on investigative techniques to industry and law enforcement
organizations.
After
leaving government service in 1995, Owen became a partner at a
New York litigation firm before eventually founding Lankler &
Carragher. Since entering private practice, Owen has successfully
represented domestic and foreign insurers, telecommunications
companies and other prominent businesses and individuals in matters
throughout the United States. As a result of the depth and breadth
of his experience, Owen continues to be called upon to lecture
on insurance, telecommunications and risk management issues.
Owen
is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut as well
as
the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern
Districts of New York. He has been admitted pro hoc vice to
several
other federal and state courts throughout the United States.
He is a member of the American Inns of Court, the New York
County
Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association.
