James joined Lankler & Carragher, LLP in 2007 after spending eight years as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York. While at the Attorney General’s Office his practice focused on complex white-collar prosecutions involving the construction industry and New York State labor laws. James was also responsible for handling Federal and New York State labor-related litigation matters; was counsel to the New York State Department of Labor; and, trained New York State Department of Labor investigators. James’ knowledge of the Labor Law also afforded him the opportunity to assist in the drafting of proposed legislation and provide guidance to the Department of Labor in enforcement matters.

As an Assistant Attorney General, James worked closely with a wide variety of law enforcement agencies and community groups while successfully prosecuting complex civil and criminal cases that resulted in numerous convictions and the recovery of tens of millions of dollars for the residents of New York State. For his exemplary performance, James was bestowed with the Attorney General’s highest award for prosecutors.

James has appeared in trial and appellate courts throughout the State of New York. He is admitted to practice in New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and all New York State Federal District Courts.
